Firefighters Bill of Rights


As A Firefighter You Have The Right To:

1. A round trip injury free experience and the guarantee that all tactical decisions & assignments are based on this Right.

2. Risk your life to save lives, but not to save property or watershed.

3. A supervisor who is competent, knowledgeable, professional, and who shall not subject you to take any unacceptable risk.

4. A crew or company that shall work together as a team without adversity.

5. All information that shall improve your situational awareness, to be heard if you have something pertinent to say, and expect that open communication is not optional.

6. Tactical assignments that have been thought through, planned for, coordinated, and determined to be safe.

7. The resources & support needed to safely succeed in your assigned mission.

8. Expect that operations adjacent to you are coordinated with you, and that in no case shall they adversely impact your operation, well-being, or safety.

9. Turn Down an assignment if you Think or Feel it to be unsafe, without repercussion.

10. The equipment, knowledge, and training needed to develop a plan to survive a catastrophic event if it occurs.
